Fat Steve Rides: The Full Story!
Steve hasn’t ridden a bike for at least 2 years, and he’s never ridden daily. He needs a new goal, and a new cause!
In 2015, Steve decided to lose weight, but needed motivation. He decided to raise money for Clay’s (Pray for Clay) cancer treatment costs. He got sponsored by the pound. Steve lost over 35 pounds (he went from 236 to 199) and raised $4,000 for Clay.
The new cause: Fat Steve Rides Supports Operation Underground Railroad
Steve is raising money for Operation Underground Railroad – an organization that rescues children from sex trafficking. (https://ourrescue.org/).
How to Help: Sponsors, Drivers, Advice or Riders!
There’s two ways to donate:
- Pledge a flat amount. Donations welcome in any amount. Steve has a special account set up at ICCU, called Fat Steve Rides. Account number 725525486, Routing number 324173626. We also have a venmo attached to that account @fat-Steve-rides100% of donations will go to Operation Underground Railroad. We are also looking for business sponsors and will list your business here and post your website!
- Sponsor Steve by the day, or double down! If Fat Steve makes it all 30 days – you owe double your daily pledge. Comment here with your pledge or fill out the form here: https://cdlidaho.com/donate-to-fat-steve-rides-2020/
Steve is riding the first day alone, on August 17 – and it’s going to be tough. But this represents the way children in sex trafficking circles feel – alone and miserable. He’s starting at the LDS Church at the base of Bogus Basin Hill everyday, for 30 days, at 6:30 am and is looking for company after the first day. He’s also looking for a ride back down in a truck about about 9am, if we can find volunteer drivers. If you are looking for a challenge and company – join the ride and get a sponsor, or two or three. Anything helps and all are welcome.
Are you an experienced rider? Do you have any advice for Steve? Nutrition, hydration, warm up, cool down? Let him know if you have any tips and tricks. Email email@example.com ANYTIME. Or you can come along on any day to cheer him up.
